Following a forfeit win by Elie Naoum at 125 and a comfortable 8-2 win by Adam Pizzurro at 133, John Carroll had to go to the limit and then some for its next two triumphs. At 141, with the match knotted at 4-4 following three periods, JCU senior Dominic Spitalieri used a takedown to win his match over Clay Criss by a 6-4 count.

Dan Mizener had three takedown in the opening period, but the Blue Streak junior had to survive a late flurry by Jamie Vaughn for a 7-5 decision.

Spartan senior Nate Klingensmith turned the tide at 157 pounds, as a late takedown secured a 10-2 major decision.

Steven Bagnowski of John Carroll tallied his team-leading fifth win of the season at 165 pounds, holding off David Bernholt, 4-3.

The Spartans claimed another victory at 174 when R. J. Greenman won his team-leading seventh match of the year with a hard-fought 3-1 defensive battle with Travis Hammer.

John Carroll closed the match in emphatic style, as both junior Ben Adams (184) and freshman Jim Nemunaitis (197) recorded first period pins. For Adams, it was his first match since over a year ago when he suffered a season ending injury at the 2006 National Catholic Invitational.

The Blue Streaks are 1-0 on the year in dual meet action, while Case Reserve slips to 1-3.
