Mizener, the #3 seed at 149 pounds, started out on the right foot by winning his first match over Ryan Mulnix of Cornell, 11-6. But in the national quarterfinals, he dropped an 11-6 decision to #4 seed Matt Mauseth of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

In the "All-American Round" in the consolation bracket, Mizener faced long-time nemesis Drew Gardella of Case Reserve. Despite winning the last two bouts against his rival, Mizener would up on the short end of a 9-7 score and was eliminated from the tournament

Mizener ends his year at 33-9 and wraps up his career with 84 victories.

Adams also got his tournament off to a great start. In his opening match, the unseeded Adams faced the #2 seed at 184 pounds, Romeo Djoumessi of Wartburg, and pulled off a 5-4 upset.

In his quarterfinal round match, however, Adams was bested by Ben Engelland of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 6-2.

For the second consecutive year, Adams would find himself in an All-American round match, and he would face Toby Boltz of Wheaton. The bout would go to extra time before Boltz scored a 4-2 victory in the second tiebreaker.

Adams, a two-time national qualifier with one year left of eligibility, ends his 2008-09 campaign at 28-5.
