Jackie Leuby became a first-time collegiate medalist by winning the Capital Fall Invitational
Jackie Leuby fired an 81 in regulation, then had to wait out a scorecard "playoff" before earning medalist honors at the 2009 Capital Fall Invitational, held Sunday at Westchester Golf Club in Canal Winchester, Ohio.
Final Results
Leuby and Dixon both turned in matching scores of 81, including an identical 40 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine.
In winning the tournament, Leuby becomes the first John Carroll women's golfer to place first in an event since Amada Shannon was medalist at the 2008 OAC Championships on April 27 of that year.
In addition to Leuby, two other Blue Streaks shot their way into the top ten.
Ashley Pettibon tied for eighth with a round of 92, and
Kristen Courtney carded a 93 for sole possession of tenth place.
Mount Union was the team champion in the six-team field, amassing 361 strokes to edge host Capital (368) and Wilmington (372) for top honors. John Carroll (384), Muskingum (392) and Mount St. Joseph (443) rounded out the field.
