Julie Marlowe from the softball program and
Ben Adams from the wrestling program are the 2010 recipients of the Clyde A. Lamb Scholar-Athlete Award.
The Clyde A. Lamb Award is given annually to one male and one female athlete from eachOhio Athletic Conference institution and is the highest honor bestowed upon a student-athlete in the OAC. The recipient of the award must have participated for at least two years in an OAC-sponsored sport, have a senior status, a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his or her institution.
Graduating this May as a Business Information Systems major and a Computer Information Systems minor, Marlowe currently carries a 3.83 GPA. She is a member of the Dean's List, Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Student Union Programming Board, Christian Life Community, Church Choir and the recipient of Boland and La Guinta Scholarship.
Marlowe has started in 153 games as a Blue Streak since the start of her freshman year. In four years, she batted .333 and scored a school record 110 runs. She also tallied 181 hits (2nd most in school history), 23 doubles, 8 triples (ties a school record), and 53 runs batted in. Marlowe was named second team All-OAC in 2009 for OAC regular season runner-up team and honorable mention All-OAC in 2010 for the league tournament champions.
Adams will also graduate in May with an Economics and Finance double major and a concentration in East Asian Studies. He currently has a grade point average of 3.72. Adams has been named a three time NWCA Scholar All-American, ESPN the Magazine Academic All District IV Honors and two time Academic All-OAC. He also received the Modern Languages Departmental Award and named to the Dean's List eight times.. Adams is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Finance Association and WJCU.
Earning four varsity letters in the 184 pound weight class for wrestling, Adams is a three time OAC Champion and a three time NCAA Division III Championships Qualifier. As a senior, Adams posted a 30-6 record and won two of his first three matches at the National Meet, there-by achieving All American Status. He holds a career record of 15-4 OAC Dual, 37-5 Dual and 95-24 overall. He also earned a varsity letter for the football team one year as an outside linebacker.
Marlowe and Adams will be recognized at the OAC Awards Banquet in Columbus on Monday, May 17.
