Brian Benander was one of six Blue Streaks to be accorded with postseason honors from the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2010
A total of six Blue Streaks who were part of a school record tying 25-victory season this past spring were named to the 2010 All-Ohio Athletic Conference Baseball Team in a vote of the league's ten head coaches.
Five John Carroll players earned the distinction of second team, while a sixth was granted honorable mention status.
Senior
John Skomra is a first time All-OAC performer, putting together his best season to date. The outfielder set a John Carroll record for most at bats in a season with 149, and collected 48 hits, 33 runs, 22 RBI and tied for the team lead with 12 doubles. JCU was 19-10 with the second team all-league selection in the lead off role, and 6-6 without him there.
Junior
Brian Benander made the second team for the second consecutive year. The third baseman led all Blue Streaks in batting average (.406), runs scored (44) and on base percentage (.552). Of his 52 hits, 16 were for extra bases (nine doubles, three triples and four home runs). In the 36 games Benander started at third base, the Streaks were 22-14.
Junior
Michael Eden was the lone John Carroll pitcher selected to the All-OAC squad in 2010. A second team selection and one-time OAC Pitcher of the Week honoree this season, Eden set a single season school record with six saves to go along with a 4-0 record and 2.86 ERA. He also has the unofficial record for strikeouts per nine innings, as he fanned 41 batters in just over 27 innings of work.
Sophomore
Tom Hickey, who was the lone JCU representative on the OAC All-Tournament Team, makes his second consecutive apearance on the full season All-OAC second team. He followed up a spectacular rookie campaign by batting .357 with 51 hits (now has 114 in two seasons), 26 runs, 39 RBI, nine doubles and five home runs.
Ryan Pacyga is the lone freshman for the Blue Streaks to make the all-conference squad, rounding out the list of five second teamers. In his collegiate debut, Pacyga led his John Carroll club in hits (57), doubles (12), home runs (8), bases on balls (25) and RBI (50 - third highest total in program history). For good measure, the rookie also led the Streaks in multiple hit games with 18, and multiple RBI games with 13.
Named honorable mention All_OAC was senior
Bryan Robinett, who shook off early season injuries to bat .361 in 27 contests. He led JCU in slugging percentage with a mark of .670, aided by seven doubles, one triple and seven home runs.
John Carroll finished the season with a record of 25-16, tying the 1998 club for most victories in a single campaign. JCU also finished 12-6 in the OAC, qualigying for its second consecutive league postseason tournament and its eighth overall.
