Ben Adams will receive as a student-athlete was handed down this week as he was named to the
ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA
Academic All-District IV At Large Team for his performance both on the wrestling mat and in the classroom.
Adams, who was John Carroll's Clyde A. Lamb Award recipient in 2010, became a three-time Academic All-OAC award winner this year. A 2009 JCU graduate who was an Economics/Finance double major with a concentration in East Asian Studies, Adams put together an undergraduate grade point average of 3.72.
Earning four varsity letters at the 184 pound weight class for wrestling, Adams is a three-time OAC Champion and a three time NCAA Division III Championships qualifier. He brooke through in 2010 to earn All-America honors for the first time by placing eighth in his weight class. He finished his career with 97 victories.
Nominees for the
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American program must be key contributors in their sports with at least a 3.30 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career. In addition, the student-athletes must also have at least sophomore athlethic and academic standing.
District IV is composed of colleges and universities from the states of Ohio, Michigan, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee.
