John Carroll had a good start to the Pete Willson Invitational on Friday at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. In the opening round, the Blue Streaks were able to push eight of their ten wrestlers into the next round.
After that, wins were hard to come by.

In the two-day tournament, John Carroll finished in a tie for 22nd place among the 32 schools competing. The Blue Streaks tallied 22 points.
Lindenwood University won the tournament with 131 points, well ahead of runner-up UW-LaCrosse which finished with 109.5 points.
Greg Ryan (Warren, OH, Howland) had the best showing by a Blue Streak in the tournament. The unseeded junior 141-pounder went 3-2 and came within one match of placing in the top eight, losing in sudden victory in his elimination match. Among Ryan's wins was a 20 second pin of #6 seed Ty Kanouff of Messiah.
Ken Locsei (Willoughby, OH, South) (149),
Sean Gill (Cleveland, OH, St. Ignatius) (165) and
Todd Gaydosh (North Royalton, OH, Parma Padua Franciscan) (174) all went 2-2 at their respective weight classes.
