Terner Gott Selected As Co-Wrestler Of The Week In The OAC

Things continue to look up for Terner Gott, as he has now won 14 of his first 15 collegiate matches as well as his first OAC Wrestler of the Week award
Freshman Terner Gott picked up another impressive award, this time snagging Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week honors.

Gott is a co-recipient of the award with Kyle Kwiat of Ohio Northern, as both won their respective weight classes at the 2011 Florida Citrus Open. Of the four OAC schools competing in the 16-team field, Gott and Kwiat were the lone wrestlers from the league to win an individual title.

Of the criteria that earned him OAC Wrestler of the Week accolades, none may have been more impressive than the fact he was the lone freshman to win a weight class at this year's Citrus Open. He also matched Mitch Hagen of Saint John's (184 pounds) as the lowest seed to win a title.

Seeded fifth, Gott went 5-0 and outlasted fellow Ohio Athletic Conference competitor (and defending league champion) Mick Letcher of Ohio Northern, 9-6, in the final. Among his five wins were a fall and a major decision.

This is Gott's third title of the season, as he also claimed first place medals at the Mercyhurst Laker Open and the RIT Invitational. Gott is now 14-1 in his first 15 collegiate matches.
