John Carroll Men's Soccer Annual Golf Outing Changes Course To Honor Former Player

Josh Bernot was a three-year letterwinner for the Blue Streaks from 2001-2003
In the middle of the planning stages for the annual John Carroll men's golf outing, assistant coach Dejan Mladenovic received some stunning news.

His former teammate, Josh Bernot, had passed away from complications resulting from a skiing accident.

Josh was 30 years old.

He was the first of three Bernot siblings to play soccer at John Carroll, as younger brother Alex and sister Natalie followed Josh to University Heights.

With the full support of the Bernot family, Mladenovic has led the move to honor Josh by changing the name of the program's annual fundraising event. This year will be the first annual Joshua M. Bernot '04 Memorial Golf Outing.

While exact plans for the fundraising efforts are still in discussion, Mladenovic encourages all former Blue Streak soccer alumni to get involved as the Bernot family is completely behind the ffort to raise money specifically for a soccer project.

Alumni can sign up for the event by clicking here. The golf outing is to be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Registration will be held at 12 noon with play to begin at 1:00 pm at Valleaire Golf Course in Hinckley, Ohio.
