The Blue Streak defense came up big in the 2004 season finale, keeping the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard and forcing four turnovers in a 10-0 victory. In a decidedly defensive battle, John Carroll nursed a 3-0 lead until Anthony Fanelli returned a punt 55 yards in the third quarter inside the B-W 25-yard line. Quarterback Doug Phillips connected with Joe Konrad for a 22-yard completion before John van Oord plunged into the end zone from one yard out. Dino Zuzic added the extra point to complete the scoring on this afternoon. John Carroll linebacker Joe Motley was recognized on a conference level (OAC Defensive Player of the Week) as well as nationally (Team of the Week selection on D3Football.com) for his performance in this game. He led his team with 17 tackles, 3.5 of which went for a loss. Motley also intercepted two passes in the game, including one in the end zone.
