Otterbein held off Ohio Northern to capture the 2007 John Carroll University Fall Invitational, held Sunday, October 14, at Fowler's Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio.
The Cardinals carded a team score of 340 to finish two strokes ahead of Ohio Northern (342). John Carroll (376), Washington & Jefferson (382), Wittenberg (386), Mount Union (388), Baldwin-Wallace (390) and Denison (417) rounded out the field. Thomas More and Hiram had individuals participate but did not field full teams.
#Amanda Shannon# of John Carroll was the tournament medalist, as she edged Meagan Brennan of Ohio Northern for the honors. Determining a medalist came down to a scorecard playoff, which Shannon won based on making a birdie on the #1 handicap hole (Maple #4) where Brennan tallied a par.
Both players shot a 79, with Shannon scoring a 39 on the Maple and a 40 on the Lake. Brennan's 79 included a 39 on the front nine that was played on Fowler's Mill's famed Lake Course.
Also placing in the top five and earning all-tournament honors were Catherine Brunoehler (82) and Kelly Butler of Otterbein (82), and Leslie Walker of Washington & Jefferson (83)
Fowler's Mill Golf Course was designed by Pete Dye in 1970 and is regarded as one of the top public courses in Ohio.
