When John Carroll running back Mark Elsaesser hauled in an eight-yard touchdown pass from Mark Petruziello midway through the fourth quarter to stake his team a 17-7 lead, it appeared the curse that had prevented a road team from winning in this series since 2001 would be over. But the home-standing Yellow Jackets, who struggled all night to move the ball on the newly dedicated Tressel Field, suddenly found life on offense. Quarterback Anthony Gardner directed two touchdown drives in the final seven minutes to pull out a come-from-behind 21-17 victory. The winning play was the result of a well-executed flea flicker from 24 yards out with just under two minutes to play.
