Mizener earned the highest placing of any John Carroll wrestler at the National Catholic Wrestling Invitational, finishing in second at the 149 weight class. His record for the tournament was 2-1, with wins coming against opponents from Duquesne. This was the first wrestling tournament of the 2008-09 season for JCU.
