Carl Taseff made his mark on the gridion with the Blue Streaks football as a four year varsity fullback. Throughout his time playing as for John Carroll he was named to the All-Big Four team (1947-50), AP All-Ohio team (1947-50), AP Little All-American (1950) and was All-Ohio Conference (1947-48).
Taseff played inĀ the North-South Shrine Bowl game in Miami 1951 and won the Cleveland Touchdown Club's Outstanding Player Award in 1950.
He set 15 individual JCU records in his playing career at John Carroll. Taseff rushed for 3,829 yards in his career and scored 60 touchdowns. In his four years at John Carroll, he led the team to an overall record of 27-9-2.
In 1950, Taseff was the second highest scorer in the nation for all colleges. Additionally, he was 3rd in rushing for small colleges that same season.
Post graduation Taseff played in the NFL for eleven seasons, playing with the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Buffalo Bills. He would win the NFL Championships in 1958 and 1959 with the Baltimore Colts.
Coaching Career:
Taseff continued in the NFL as an assistant coach for the Boston Patriots, Detroit Lions, and Miami Dolphins. He would go on to win Super Bowls VII and VIII, along with long-time teammate/fellow coach Don Shula.
