Dejan Mladenovic was a cornerstone, jack-of-all-trades player for John Carroll Men’s Soccer. As a sophomore, Mladenovic played a key role in a historic 2003 campaign, as the Blue Streaks won OAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships to punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Streaks earned the program’s first NCAA postseason win, and first trip to the Round of 16. Following a solid junior season, Mladenovic was named captain of the 2005 Blue Streaks. The Normandy grad guided the team to an OAC Regular Season Championship. And then in OAC Tournament Championship game, Mladenovic provided a dramatic, game-winning goal to send JCU to the NCAA Tournament, one of his 11 goals that season. The Blue Streaks got to host the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history, winning the opening round before losing in the second round. Mladenovic earned Second Team All-Great Lakes Region, Second Team All-Ohio, OAC Co-Midfielder of the Year, and First Team All-OAC. Mladenovic finished his career as a player with 80 games played, which was the most games played ever by a Blue Streak in their career at the time.
