John Carroll University Athletics

Edward (Butch) Carney played on the line for John Carroll from 1921-1924.  He was named team captain of the Blue Streaks during his senior season in 1924.

A four year starter, Carney was mentioned on Walter Camp's All-American team in 1924 as a center.  In a game in 1922, his defensive play was key in a 48-0 win over Defiance.

In 1995, Walsh was named to the "Pre-War Era" team (1920-1942) as part of the 75th anniversary of JCU football as a defensive lineman.
