George Dalton was a center for the Blue Streaks basketball team from 1951-55. During his illustrious career, Dalton was named All-City, All-Ohio, All-Catholic, and All-American.
Dalton graduated with 13 school records, ten of which still stand today including most career points with 2,357. At the time, Dalton was only the fourth player in college basketball history to score over 2,000 points in a career and is still the only Blue Streak to go over the mark.
Dalton's 1952-53 season was one of the greatest seasons any John Carroll player has ever had. He scored 669 points, averaged 24.8 points per game, made 230 field goals, and made 209 free throws. All four are still single season program records.
In a game on February 15th, 1954 against Valparaiso, Dalton scored a then-single game record 42 points. That mark still ranks third in team history.
Dalton remains #1 all time in career points per game (23.3), field goals made (841), free throws made (675), and rebounds (858). He also is tied for first in free throws made in a game (19 against Seton Hall on December 16th, 1952)
George Dalton's #22 is one of two Blue Streak basketball numbers that are retired.
