Jeff Lerner was a four-year letterwinner and starter for the John Carroll football team from 1999-2002. The 2002 Ed Sherman Award recipient as the Most Outstanding Receiver in the OAC, Lerner graduated as the school's all-time leader in receptions (148) and receiving yards (2580).
Lerner played on teams that compiled a 33-11 record in his four years in the program (includes 2001 season when he was injured in 3rd game and missed the rest of the season). In his senior year, the Blue Streaks were 12-2 and an NCAA Division III Championship qualifier, capturing the East region champion and becoming the first NCAA Championship semifinalist team in school history.
His efforts earned him D3football.com All- North region 3rd team in 2002, All-OAC first team in 2002 and second team in 2001. He was a team captain in 2002, the team's Most Valuable receiver in 2002, and held four school records at the time of his graduation. Lerner also ran one season of track at JCU, earning a letter as well as All-OAC honors as a member of the 4 x 100 relay in 2002 that helped JCU win its first and still only OAC title.
