Jim Wideikis was one of the most feared hitters in John Carroll baseball history. Named to the third team Rawlings All-America team in 1998, Wideikis was a two-time All-Mideast Region selection (first team in 1998, second team in 1997) and a three-time All-OAC selection, including first team in 1997 and 1998.
At the time of his graduation, Wideikis held seven offensive school records, including career batting average (.391), hits (181), RBI (143), doubles (52) and home runs (22). His team came within one win of the OAC Tournament title in 1998, a year in which the Blue Streaks won a single season school record 25 games.
A team captain in his senior season, Wideikis was also recognized for his schoolwork on a number of occasions. A three-time Academic All-OAC member, Wideikis earned a national honor when he was elected to the 1998 GTE Academic All American first team .
