In his four seasons as a letterwinner and starter, John Carroll qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship in 2000, 2001 and 2003. As a senior, he was part of a John Carroll squad that won its first two NCAA playoff games and advanced to the round of 16 for the first time in program history.

JCU also captured Ohio Athletic Conference regular season titles in 2001 and 2003 and OAC Tournament championships in 2000 and 2003. John Carroll's team record was 57-16-4 in Pitorak's four years.

Pitorak was selected first team All-Region in 2003 and second team All-Region in 2002, as well as first team All-Ohio in 2002 and 2003 and second team in 2001. On the conference level, he was OAC Defender of the Year as a senior, and was a four time All-OAC honoree (first team 2001, 2002, 2003 and second team 2000). A two-time Academic All-OAC selection, Pitorak scored 14 career goals and tallied 16 career assists, and set program records for games played (77) and started (75).
