Patrick Murphy, class of 1991, was an All-American offensive lineman for the historic 1989 OAC championship team that made the program's first NCAA Division III playoff appearance.
Murphy was a team captain, two-year starter and three-year letterwinner during his time as a Blue Streak athlete. He was also named to first team All-OAC in the 1989 season.
In 1988 – his first letter-winning season – Murphy played every position on the offensive line except right tackle to earn his first letter. John Carroll was 16-4 in his two years as a starter, and the 1989 team rewrote the school's offensive record book in a season in which the Blue Streaks were ranked among top 25 teams statistically in nation in total offense and scoring offense.
