Was a guard on the varsity basketball team for four years at Carroll (1936-1940). Served as the team captain for two years and was part of the All-Big Four selection during his senior year. During that same senior season, McGorray helped the Blue Streaks achieve their only winning season between 1935 and 1953, when they went 12-8 in 1940.
