Starting member of the fabled Blue Streak defense that established six NCAA and PAC records. Second team All-Catholic All-American as a senior.

Co-captained the 1963 team (along with fellow Hall of Famer John Kovach) which won the school's second consecutive PAC title and its fourth overall. Three-year starter at linebacker and three-time first team All-PAC honoree during his career at John Carroll.

Played on teams that posted a combined mark of 19-2
