Tim Wood garnered fame as a world-renowned figure skater while pursuing a degree in pre-law at John Carroll.
After a strong junior career, Wood erupted onto the national stage in 1968. While working on his undergraduate work, Wood burst onto the U.S. scene by winning the 1968 U.S. Championship. Later in the year, Wood secured Silver at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France. Competing in Geneva, Switzerland at the 1968 World Championships, Wood notched second place.
In 1969, Wood managed to defend his U.S. title and conquered the North American Championships. Wood reigned supreme at the 1969 World Championships, his first such conquest.
In 1970, Wood won his third straight U.S. Championship and came out on top at the 1970 World Championships in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia.
The Highland Park, Michigan also performed with the Ice Capades, Ice Follies and Holiday on Ice during his skating career.
