Mackenzie Griffin's trophy case may need reinforced shelves.

Griffin, a JCU senior softball player, was named to the 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-America Third Team for her tremendous play this season.

In addition to this award, she has also earned first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference, first team All-Central Region, and received the unprecedented distinction of Capital One Division III Academic All-America® of the Year.

In 39 games in 2013, she achieved a program-record .548 batting average while occupying the catcher position to lead John Carroll to a 26-13 record (14-4 OAC) and a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.  She led the team in hits (68), doubles, (20), and RBI  (43) while compiling a sizzling .798 slugging percentage.

Griffin ends her college career as the program's all-time leader in hits (199), runs scored (126), and games played (165).  She has been an integral part of two OAC Tournament titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances.  Her walk-off single against Geneva College on May 11, 2012 gave the Blue Streaks a 3-2 win and the program its first-ever NCAA playoff victory.
