Baseball Alumni Weekend Set For April 24-25

2015 John Carroll Baseball Alumni Celebration Registration Form

John Carroll University baseball head coach Marc Thibeault ('98) has announced plans for the 2015 John Carroll Baseball Alumni Celebration Weekend to take place April 24-25. Thibeault outlines the details of the weekend below.

After 44 hours of navigating highways to and from Ft. Myers, Fla., the John Carroll University baseball team returns for the spring thaw with a respectable 6-3 record.  The week was full of challenges and growth as the Blue Streaks rolled out four wins to conclude the week. Junior Tyler Gentile led the JCU in hitting boasting a .559 mark through the first nine games.  The Blue Streaks' starting pitchers achieved eight quality starts, leading to the success of the team this past week.  We want to continue to thank you for your support as our season progresses.

The weekend of
April 24 marks John Carroll Baseball Alumni Weekend to commemorate all alumni and emphasize the accomplishments of the decade teams of 1985, 1995 and 2005.  The activities will commence on Friday, April 24 with an alumni golf outing at Shaker Country Club in Shaker Heights. The fee will be $125 and will include lunch and golf. There are limited spots available and can be reserved by contacting head coach Marc Thibeault directly at mthibeault@jcu.edu

We have moved the social gathering to Rodman Hall on campus
Friday night. This will allow the alumni the opportunity to explore campus again while socializing with alumnus and players. We have also added a guest speaker to the event. Bob DiBiasio, the Senior Vice President of Public Relations for the Cleveland Indians. DiBiasio has been a gracious supporter of college athletics and specifically our program. He helped coordinate our 2003 senior day at Jacobs Field and offered the stadium to our team for three separate dates over the years. He has also allowed our team to use the stadium batting cages for practices in the winter months. He will discuss the current state of the Indians and other topics surrounding the new changes happening at the major league level. The fee for this is $20 and includes drinks and food.

The John Carroll Baseball Team will battle Marietta
on Saturday, April 25 for its last home doubleheader of the year. We will be celebrating both the alumni and seniors during these games. Please join us for lunch in the Shula Room above the home dugout at noon before the game.

We have also attached in the link a donation space where alumni can give back to the program.  Our development office has given our team the green light to raise funds to cover increasing costs of operating an efficient baseball team. As many of you know the program has taken tremendous strides in the past eight years. The Blue Streaks have been a perennial contender in the OAC, (2014 OAC Champions & NCAA participant) and in the mid-east region. As various committees work to distinguish top programs in the country, they highly consider teams who play a strong schedule. Last season, our schedule ranked as the seventh-most challenging in the entire country. To gain this recognition, our team had to travel over 10,000 miles to find quality opponents. While we operate under strict budget and travel guidelines, we are asking for your support. These funds would be used to offset the travel costs that give our team the opportunity to play quality opponents in our non-conference schedule. Any donations would be grateful and much appreciated to be put toward resources that allow the program to continue to play and compete at the highest level.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you on the 24th
