In John Carroll's 31-14 season-opening dual meet triumph over Case Reserve, Nycz had a solid effort in which he won his match by a 10-1 major decision over Spartan senior Jonathan Stone. Nycz, who wrestled all of last season as a 125-pounder but often competed at 133 or 141 pounds to fill vacancies in the line-up, improved to 3-2 on the year with the victory.
