Spirit squads add to the ongoing tradition and success of varsity athletics at John Carroll University. The members of the JCU Cheer program are dedicated to leading Blue Streak students and fans in supporting their Blue Streaks teams. Their appearances include JCU Football in Don Shula Stadium, JCU Men's and Women's Basketball games in the De Carlo Varsity Center plus occasional promotional events on-campus and in the community. John Carroll University Cheerleaders participate in volunteer opportunities as deemed appropriate by the Head Coach and squad.
Annual tryouts occur during each spring for the upcoming academic year. There is no fee to tryout and opportunities are open to all students who maintain full time academic good standing. Skills, teamwork and commitment to the practice, pre-season camp plans + game day responsibilities are outlined in the expectations of squad members. The average squad size each year is 16-20 and unique skills in spirit, stunting and tumbling are preferred.
