Alcohol Policy
John Carroll University does not sanction the consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages by underage persons; Nor does it sanction the violation of Federal, State or Local law.Ā 

Cameras
Cameras are permitted inside the DeCarlo Varsity Center and Don Shula Stadium. At no time may photography interfere with other guests.

Chairs
Foldable camp chairs are not permitted inside the DeCarlo Varsity Center or Don Shula Stadium.

Concessions (DeCarlo Varsity Center)
The concession stand is located on the DeCarlo Center upper level near the rec desk entrance.

Concessions (Shula Stadium)
The concession stand is located on the Don Shula Stadium main concourse under the home side of the stands.

Disabilities Accessibility Information (DeCarlo Varsity Center)
  • Wheelchair Assistance - Guests who need wheelchair assistance to their seat should take the elevator from the recreation level to the ground level of the DeCarlo Varsity Center.Ā 
  • Seating for Persons with Disabilities - is available on both sides of the stands in the DeCarlo Varsity Center. Please see event staff for assistance.
  • Accessible Restrooms for Persons with Disabilities – Accessible restrooms are located on the DeCarlo Center upper level.
  • Service animals in training for guests with disabilities are welcome. All service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. No other animals are allowed in the stadium.

  • Wheelchair Assistance - Guests who need wheelchair assistance to their seat should take the elevator from the ground level by the first base dugout of the baseball field to the concourse. The visitor stands are wheelchair accessible.
  • Seating for Persons with Disabilities - is available on both sides of the stands in Don Shula Stadium. Please see event staff for assistance.
  • Accessible Restrooms for Persons with Disabilities – Accessible restrooms are located on the main concourse.
  • Service animals in training for guests with disabilities are welcome. All service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. No other animals are allowed in the stadium.
Doors
The entrance doors to the DeCarlo Varsity Center and Johnson Natatorium are located off the Belvoir parking lot. It is not recommended that guests use the main door to the DeCarlo Varsity Center.Ā 

Emergencies and Evacuation Procedures
In the event of a serious emergency, all event staff, ushers, law enforcement and fire and emergency personnel are available to assist guests, including those with disabilities. Information could also be provided over the public address system.

Game Programs
Complimentary game programs are available at ticket tables upon entry. Programs for some contests will be for purchase, with prices being announced in advance of game day.Ā 

Gates
There is one gate to enter Don Shula Stadium through the Wasmer Field archway between Campion and Hamlin Halls.

Gate Times
The doors and gates to the DeCarlo Varsity Center and Don Shula Stadium open 60 minutes prior to scheduled time.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found is located with John Carroll Police.Ā 

Medical Emergency
If assistance is needed, please contact the nearest John Carroll University employee, law enforcement officer, or paramedic.Ā 

National Anthem
The National Anthem will be played once both teams have taken the field.

Parking
Parking is provided free of charge on campus. Parking is not permitted in any spot marked reserved for special permits, or reserved for administrators, faculty or staff at all times. Violators are subject to ticketing and towing.

Pets/Service Animals
Animals, except for trained K-9 dogs or service animals assisting disabled visitors, are not permitted in Don Shula Stadium.

Playing Field
Guests may not enter the playing field at any time before or during the game. VIOLATORS ARE SUBJECT TO ARREST AND MAY BE PROSECUTED.

Press Box Access
Only credentialed personnel are allowed into the press box. FANS ARE NOT PERMITTED INTO THE PRESS BOX TO USE THE ELEVATOR. Ā All media should contact the John Carroll University sports information office at least two (2) days prior to kick-off to reserve a credential. Ā Please contact sports information director JoeĀ GinleyĀ at jginley@jcu.edu.

Prohibited Items
The following items are not permitted in Don Shula Stadium: alcohol, balls, bottles, coolers (hard sided), drugs, fireworks, flags, frisbees, ice chests, irritants, knives, noisemakers, picnic baskets, radios (without headsets), televisions, and weapons.

Prohibited Behavior
Examples of prohibited behavior include, but are not limited to: throwing objects of any kind; demonstrating unruly behavior; attempting to enter the field of play; engaging in behavior that endangers the safety of student-athletes, coaches, officials or other guests; attempting to climb the goal posts; and/or taunting public safety officials. Consequences for guests exhibiting prohibited behavior include, but are not limited to: loss of ticket buying privileges, ejection from the stadium, and/or arrest.

Radio Broadcasts
WJCU 88.7 FM broadcasts most basketball and football games. John Carroll also offers audio commentary with its video feed at www.jcusports.com/live.

Re-Entry
Re-entry is not permitted at Don Shula Stadium.

Restrooms (DeCarlo Varsity Center)
Men's and women's restrooms are located on the upper level of the DeCarlo Varsity Center.Ā 

Restrooms (Shula Stadium)
Men's and women's restrooms are located on the home side of Don Shula Stadium.Ā 

Smoking Policy
Smoking is not permitted on John Carroll University grounds.

Solicitation/Literature
Setting up a promotional space and/or distributing banners, booklets, business cards, circulars, commercial advertising, flyers, folders, handbills, leaflets, notices, pamphlets, posters, stickers, t-shirts, or any other written, printed and/or painted materials in or around Don Shula Stadium and campus without the permission of John Carroll University is prohibited.

Tailgating (Football)Ā 
All tailgating activities in the John Carroll University Campus parking areas are subject to the laws and regulations of the State of Ohio and/or the John Carroll University police department. The official JCU parent/alumni tailgate takes place on the tennis courts adjacent to Don Shula Stadium. The visitor tailgate takes place in the BolerĀ Parking Lot, next to the Boler School of Business. Click HERE for a campus map.

Parking spaces are available on the day of the game on a first-come, first-served basis. Do not park in spots designated reserved for special permits or reserved for administrators, faculty/staff at all times. Violators subject to ticketing and towing.

Tailgating activities should not take up vacant parking spaces or interfere with traffic flow within campus parking lots. Drive lanes in parking lots must be maintained at all times. The speed limit on campus is 15 MPH.

Other tailgate rules/reminders:
  • Must be 21 or older to consume alcohol
  • Please use plastic cups. Glass, cans, and kegs are not permitted
  • Games that promote rapid alcohol consumption are not permitted
  • Propane grills are allowed
  • Wood burning fire pits/charcoal are not permitted
  • Courts must be cleared at kickoff
  • Alcohol is not permitted inside Shula Stadium or while waiting in line outside the stadium
  • JCU is a smoke/tobacco free campus
  • JCU is not responsible for your property
  • Tennis courts/tailgating must be cleared 1 ½ hrs after the end of the game
  • Restrooms are located in Don Shula Stadium or across the street in the Rec Plex.
* Tailgating is a privilege, not a right. JCU PD reserves the right to remove those not abiding tailgating guidelines.

Umbrellas (Shula Stadium)
Guests are permitted to use umbrellas at Don Shula Stadium, permitting they do not interfere with sightlines of other guests.
