Junior Kaylin Akerly has been named Blue Streak athlete of the week after two impressive performances against OAC opponents Otterbein University and Marietta College.
Playing on the road at Otterbein on Tuesday, Oct. 8, Akerly recorded the assist on the Blue Streaks' lone goal of the 3-1 loss to the Cardinals. The Eria, Pa. native also had five shots in the game, three of which were on goal.
Returning home to Don Shula Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 12, Akerly had a career day against the visiting Marietta Pioneers. Akerly recorded two goals early in the 19th and 22nd minutes, inflating the lead to 4-0 and 5-0, respectively. Akerly also had three assists in the game as she had a hand in five of the seven goals scored on the day, leading JCU to a 7-0 win over Marietta. With the victory, Akerly and the Blue Streaks snapped a three-game losing streak.
