Freshman Michelle Grossman won the 1,000-meter title at the 2008 OAC Track & Field Championships this past weekend. Grossman had the second best time by a conference runner during the regular season, but the freshman picked an opportune time to post her best time of the winter. Grossman completed the race in a time of 3:07.15, dropping more than two seconds off her seed time. She defeated a field of 13 runners that included top-seeded Kimberly Chinn of Baldwin-Wallace, who placed second in 3:09.44. Grossman was also a member of the John Carroll distance medley relay quartet along with Ryann Smith, Tara Ford, and Lauren Baldarelli. The Blue Streaks crossed the finish line in 13:14.21, good for a fifth-place finish. Grossman was a vital member of the Blue Streaks, helping the team to finish in sixth place at the championships.
