Hector Marinaro

Hector Marinaro retired as head coach of John Carroll Men's Soccer after 15 fruitful seasons at the helm. 

Marinaro, a former professional soccer player, was named to his current position on January 31, 2006 and retired in May 2021. 

In his 15 years in University Heights, Marinaro accumulated an overall record of 185-82-30.

In OAC play, his teams had a record of 98-23-13.

Marinaro is a 2005 inductee into the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame.

Career Accomplishments
  • Marinaro had a 21-year professional playing career -- 16 of which were spent with Cleveland (Force & Crunch).
  • All-time leading scorer in Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) history - 1,223 goals and 701 assists
  • Three-time NPSL Champion (1994, 1996, 1999)
  • Seven-time NPSL Most Valuable Player (later named the Marinaro Trophy)
  • 15-time MISL / NPSL All-Star
  • Nine-time MISL / NPSL scoring champion


Personal
Marinaro is a native of Mississauga, Canada. He and his wife Jodi have two children, Jesse '18, and Janice '21. His brother Rob Marinaro is the head coach of the women's soccer program at Kent State University.
