Marc Thibeault

Marc Thibeault '98 enters his 20th season as the head coach of the John Carroll University baseball program.

Thibeault was named the fourth head coach in program history in September 1999.

In 19 years at the helm, the John Carroll graduate has the most wins of any coach in program history.

He has led his alma mater to a record of 385-348-3, including a 183-155 mark in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

2018
20-18, 8-10 OAC
Three players were named to the All-OAC first team along with two players earning all regional awards.

2017
18-22, 8-10 OAC
John Carroll qualified for a ninth consecutive OAC Tournament. Three players were named to the All-OAC first team. 

2016
19-22, 11-7 OAC
The program finished with a winning conference record for the fourth consecutive campaign (11-7). Five players were named to the All-OAC team, and five were recognized as Academic All-OAC recipients.

2015
25-16, 12-6 OAC
The Blue Streaks rolled to a 25-16 overall record, including 12-6 in OAC play. John Carroll landed eight players on the All-OAC team, tying a program record. Three Blue Streaks earned D3baseball.com All-Region honors, and Andrew Doring was named D3baseball.com Pitcher of the Year.

2014
24-17, 12-6 OAC - Conference Tournament Champions
John Carroll won its first-ever OAC Championship with a 6-3 win over Baldwin Wallace on May 10, 2014. The Blue Streaks advanced to the championship round of the tournament for the first time since Thibeault’s senior year. With the tournament title in hand, John Carroll made its second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 1984.

On March 31, 2014, Thibeault became the all-time JCU baseball leader in wins with 290, surpassing program founder Jerry Schweickert. Thibeault’s earned his 300th career win making him the sixth active coach in the OAC and 11th overall in the conference to reach the milestone. Five of Thibeault’s players earned All-OAC honors in 2014 led by first team selections Chet Lauer and Jimmy Spagna, who would both go on and earn All-American honors.

Playing Career
Thibeault was a versatile performer for the Blue Streaks from 1995 to 1998, making his mark as both a pitcher and outfielder. On the mound, Thibeault recorded 107 strikeouts and 12 victories in his career. As a hitter, Thibeault had a career average of .283, bolstered by a senior season in which he batted .355 and drove in 22 runs.

In 1997 and 1998, Thibeault was an honorable mention All-OAC pick and was named to the OAC All-Tournament team. He also was the team's Most Valuable Player in his last season and helped the Blue Streaks to a program-best 27 wins.

Thibeault, a Boston native, graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He served as the team's graduate assistant coach in 1999.

Personal
Thibeault and his wife Bridget reside in Cleveland Heights, with their son Cavan and daughter Cecelia Cate.
