Kyle Buxman, Antonio Biasiotta and Jeff Kosek had few answers against Heidelberg Tuesday afternoon

The John Carroll men's soccer team got off to a slow start Tuesday afternoon and never recovered in dropping a 3-1 decision to Heidelberg at Don Shula Stadium.
The loss was doubly painful, as John Carroll tumbled from first place into third place tie with Heidelberg -- one point behind league leaders Ohio Northern and Capital.
In the 29th minute of the game, after numerous posession changes between the Blue Streaks and the Student Princes, junior Brad Howell of Heidelberg converted a JCU turnover into a goal. The score was the first and the only of the half.
Heidelberg increased its lead early in the second period when freshman Mike Harling fed a pass to junior Brian Juart who headed the ball in for the goal and a 2-0 lead.
With less than 20 minutes left in the game, John Carroll finally got on the board. Blue Streak Mike Pinter scored from a stellar crossing pass by senior Alex Bernot.
But the momentum was quickly taken away from JCU with another Heidelberg goal courtesy of a Blue Streak turnover just three minutes later. Student Princes junior Billy Banks would sneak a shot through the defense and past Carroll keeper Matt DeMarchi.
John Carroll, now 7-7 overall and 4-2 in the OAC, has three games remaining in the regular season.
