In the first home meet of the 2007-08 season, the John Carroll men's swimming and diving team dropped a one-sided decision to Mount Union College, 124-106, in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet staged at the William H. Johnson Natatorium.

JCU put up a good fight in the first race, staying right the Purple Raiders. The JCU relay team of Max Wilberding, Ehren Eschmann, David Perchinske and Ryan Flaherty swam a 1:46.86 in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing just behind Mount Union's quartet of Dan Hampu, Jeff Budzowski, Andrew Smith and Sean Jeffers. The winning margin was a little over one second.

After a runner-up finish by Tom Barden (11:30.46) in the 1000 Free, the Blue Streaks struggled to break through a flurry of 1-2 finishes by the Purple Raiders. David Perchinske raced a 23.37 in the 50-yard freestyle to finish as a runner-up, as did Nick Grady in the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.21).

In the diving events, JCU's David Essi placed first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Mount Union did not have any divers in the competition.

JCU falls to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in league competition following the loss.
