A Mike Pinter header in the 88th minute tied the match, and a Louis Kastelic follow of an Alex Bernot shot won it in the 96th minute as the John Carroll men's soccer team rallied late to defeat Allegheny College, 2-1, in a non-conference affair held at Don Shula Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, Allegheny would break the deadlock when Ryan Fetterolf finished off a breakaway opportunity. His initial shot was stopped by JCU goalkeeper Matt DeMarchi, but the ball rolled away. Fetterolf alertly followed the ball and tapped it in for his first goal of the season at the 51:04 mark.

Allegheny appeared to be holding on for the one goal victory, but a relentless offensive surge by the Blue Streaks paid off. A corner kick by Bernot just inside of three minutes to play in regulation bent toward the near post, where Pinter was able to head it past Gators keeper Ryan Larkin.

JCU had a chance to win it in regulation when Bernot squeezed a shot off in close, but it struck the crossbar and bounced high and away.

In the overtime, the Blue Streaks continued to stay on the offensive. Bernot got loose in close and rocketed a shot that Larkin blocked but could not handle. Kastelic was opportunistic, and followed in the deflection to punch in the game winner at the 95:13 mark.

JCU outshot Allegheny by a 22-8 count, and had 11 corners to the Gators' four

JCU improved to 3-3 with the win, while Allegheny's record is identical at 3-3 with the loss. The Blue Streaks are now 4-0-2 in their last six meetings with the Gators dating back to their last loss in the series in 1999.
