John Carroll men's soccer team started strong against Wooster this evening at Don Shula Stadium, but breakaway goals would turn a one-goal lead into a two-goal loss as the Fighting Scots defeated the Blue Streaks, 3-1.

The Blue Streaks tallied the first goal 13:53 into the first period as Scott McKinney put one in the net off a play started by Alex Bernot and Kyle Buxman.

However, JCU couldn't hold Wooster from scoring and at 20:55 the Scots also found the back of the net on a direct kick by Karl Ruter. Wooster would score again thanks to a goal on a breakaway by Scott Buckwald later in the first period to take the lead 2-1.

Coming into the second half, the Blue Streaks were looking to tie the score and gather some momentum. Unfortunatly, the Scots were successful again at the 56:23 mark on a Nick Waychoff goal that increased their lead by two goals. That would be the final score of the game as Wooster improved their record, 3-2 and John Carroll is now 3-4 on the season.

The Blue Streaks had more shots (14-8) than the Scots, but Wooster was more efficient in their chances.

John Carroll will be in action again on the road at Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio on September 22, at 7:30 p.m.
