Case Reserve scored twice in the first five minutes of this afternoon's match to put a damper on the John Carroll men's soccer home opener as the Blue Streaks never recovered in falling by a 3-0 score.

The visiting Spartans wasted little time as Kevin Bigart tallied a goal just 26 seconds into the match when he fired in a shot after a ball deflected off a JCU defender. Four minutes later, Brian Evans would score on a thru ball that gave Case a 2-0 lead.

John Carroll had chances to answer, but five of its eight shots were wide of goal on the day, including two headers in the second half.

The final blow to the Blue Streaks cause was scored by Case's R.J. French in the 78th minute.

The Blue Streaks fall to 1-2 with the loss while Case Reserve improved to 3-0. It was Case's first men's soccer win over John Carroll since a 1-0 victory in 1999.
