Blue Streaks Go The Distance To Finish First In Pool Play At Defiance Invitational

John Carroll had to go to five games to defeat both host school and league rival Wilmington to capture Pool A and enter the first place playoff bracket at the eighth annual Defiance College Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Defiance, Ohio.

The Blue Streaks rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Defiance in their first match (30-24, 31-33, 28-30, 30-27, 15-8). Against Wilmington, whom John Carroll will host in an Ohio Athletic Conference match on October 19, John Carroll won game one easily, lost the next two, the rallied for yet another come-from-behind victory (30-14, 28-30, 25-30, 30-21, 15-4).

The victories put John Carroll into a first place bracket with two other pool play winners. JCU will face Bluffton at 9:00 am on Saturday, and then will face Huntington at 11 am in what will be the Blue Streaks final match of the tournament.

JCU is now 5-2 on the season.
