JCU Needs Very Little Time In Overtime To Settle Matters With Heidelberg

Louis Kastelic increased his team lead in the assists category ... and helped win a game in the process at Heidelberg

from staff reports

Box Score

John Carroll and Heidelberg could not resolve their issues after 90 minutes of regulation play in a men's soccer match played Tuesday night in Tiffin, Ohio. So they played overtime.

It lasted just 62 seconds.

Jeff Kosek received a pass from Louis Kastelic and rifled a shot into upper left corner to lift the Blue Streaks to a 1-0 victory over the Student Princes.

Heidelberg had three shots in the final four minutes of the second half to seemingly carry the momentum into the extra session. But JCU had the first and only shot of the overtime period.

John Carroll had the slight edge in shots (13-12), with Matt DeMarchi making four saves for the Blue Streaks' third shutout of 2008.

JCU is now 7-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the OAC, while Heidelberg falls to 5-7-2 overall and 2-1-1 in league play.
