Box Score

Playing at a place where it is always tough to win, and putting a goalkeeper in the line-up who was making her first career start seemed to stack the odds against John Carroll on Saturday night at Wilmington.

The Blue Streaks nearly defied those odds, but ultimately fell by a 1-0 score to the Quakers in an Ohio Athletic Conference match in Wilmington, Ohio.

Molly Gradowski made five saves in her first career start in place of the injured Michelle Zrebiec.

The winning goal came in the 82nd minute when Wilmington's Britney Beck scored off a cross near the far post.

JCU actually held a 12-11 edge in shots taken, as well as 7-6 in shots on goal. In sharp contrast, Wilmington had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Wilmington maintains a share of first place and improves to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in the OAC. John Carroll falls to 9-4-4 overall and 2-3-2 in league play.
