John Carroll had five players in double figures and amassed its highest point total of the season in defeating the host Marietta College Pioneers, 90-78, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game played Saturday afternoon in Marietta, Ohio.

The Blue Streaks, whose previous high-point total of the year was 87 against Oberlin back in November, rolled to their seventh consecutive road victory dating back to December 28, 2007.

Despite facing a tenth place team on the road, John Carroll would have its hands full early on against a Marietta squad that had recently snapped a 33-game conference losing streak. In fact, after halting their prolonged skid, the Pioneers brought a two-game winning streak into Saturday's contest following victories over Muskingum and Heidelberg.

JCU and Marietta would exchange the lead five times during the first ten minutes. When Nikki Driscoll buried a three-pointer at the 10:31 mark of the first half, she gave the Pioneers a 23-21 lead.

John Carroll would make the sixth lead change stick. A 21-5 run, capped by an Alex D'Amico three-pointer, gave John Carroll a 46-28 advantage with 1:12 left to play in the opening period. The Blue Streaks would eventually take a 46-31 lead into the break.

In the second half, John Carroll would extend its lead to 20 points on two occasions -- the second of which was following an Erin Zahariev three-point play with 7:57 remaining.

The Pioneers, however, would make one last gasp effort to close the gap. Amanda Carraher's three-point field goal with 3:23 left completed a 13-4 run that pulled Marietta to within nine points at 80-71.

Just as quickly as Marietta had cut the lead down, John Carroll would pull away by rattling off seven unanswered points and icing the game away.

John Carroll (15-8, 10-6 OAC) was paced by 21 points from D'Amico, who matched her career high that she established just three days prior at Heidelberg. D'Amico was 6-7 from the field, 4-5 from three-point range, and 5-7 from the free throw line for her point total.

Besides D'Amico other players in double figures included Lee Jennings with 16 points, Zahariev with 13, Caitlin Sureck with 12 and Rachael Price with 11.

This is John Carroll's first 15 win season since the Blue Streaks won 20 games in 1993-94.

Marietta (5-16, 2-13 OAC) was led by 22 points from Justine Pagenhardt. Driscoll scored 15 points and Jamie Beckett tallied 14 for the Pioneers, who were eliminated from OAc playoff contention with this loss.
