In a match that was originally scheduled to be played back in March, John Carroll found the wait was worth the while as the Blue Streaks dispatched of Capital University, 7-2, Thursday afternoon for its first Ohio Athletic Conference victory of the season.

JCU raced out to claim the first three points of the match by winning all three doubles clashes. Then, in singles play, the Blue Streaks won all four singles matches played in flights three through six to secure the victory.

Amy Marchlen was the most dominant in her efforts, winning by a 6-0 6-1 margin over Erin Gilliam. The other three had a little more drama added to the mix.

Allison Balestrino knocked off Jamie Schwefel by a 6-3 6-4 score at #4 singles. Ashley Bauer shrugged off a loose second set to beat Sara Seneski, 6-1 1-6 6-2, at #5 singles. With the match in hand, the #6 singles match went to a third set tiebreaker, with Julie Britten edging Capital's Amy Miller, 4-6 6-1 1-0 (10-6).

John Carroll is now 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the OAC, while Capital slips to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in league action.
