John Carroll battled hard but ultimately fell by a 7-2 score to a strong Case Western Reserve University team Thursday afternoon at the Belvoir Blvd. Courts in University Heights.
James Steward recorded the most impressive victory of the day, as he knocked off Case Reserve senior Joe Smetona, who is currently ranked 19th in the Central Region.
The other victory turned in by a Blue Streak was from Jeff Copp at #5 singles. He dropped the first set but was leading Kenneth Nguyen in the second, 4-2, when the Case played had to retire.
Matt Tomayko and Mike Finissi had the closest call in doubles action as the #2 duo fell by a close 8-6 score to Mike Peterson and Allen Ye.
Case improves to 10-3 with the win, while John Carroll falls to 0-4.
