Betsy Haigh tallied the game winner in the first half, and Val Korb added an insurance goal in the second as John Carroll ran its shutout streak to five matches in a row with a 2-0 road win at Hiram Wednesday.
Haigh netted her first goal of the season for JCU's first goal of the match in the final minute of the opening period. After tracking down a long ball by Brynn McNicholas, Haigh fired a shot that the Hiram keeper could not handle. She was able to get her own rebound and made good on the second attempt.
The necessary cushion was provided by Korb, who handled a pass from Caitlyn Walton and beat the Terriers' keeper for a 2-0 Blue Streaks lead.
The JCU defense, with goalkeeper Michelle Zrebiec making three saves, would make the lead stand up. the Blue Streaks have now logged 470 minutes of play this season without yielding a single goal.
John Carroll improves to 4-0-1 this season.
