John Carroll recovered from a 2-1 halftime deficit by scoring two goals in the second period for a 3-2 road win at Oberlin in a non-conference match Thursday evening.
The Blue Streaks got on the board first when
Erika Eberhardt fed a pass to
Elizabeth Daigler as she sped past a defender for her third goal of the season at the seven minute mark.
Oberlin, however, responded with two Veronica Fusco goals to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
Less than three minutes into the second half, John Carroll would even the score at 2-2.
Lauren Marchioni sent a cross to
Caitlyn Walton, who pounded a low line drive into the goal for what was her fifth marker of the year.
The match remained deadlocked until the 80th minute. JCU senior
Brynn McNicholas seized upon a rebound off a missed shot and found the back of the net for the game winner. It was McNicholas' first goal since October 18, 2006.
John Carroll outshot Oberlin, 20-9, and had six corner kicks to the Yeowomen's two.
The Blue Streaks are now 5-1-1 through seven matches, the team's best start since going 5-2 top open the 1999 campaign.
