A goal in the 88th minute by John Carroll's Betsy Haigh extended the match between the visiting Blue Streaks and the host Grove City College Wolverines into what would eventually become a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon in Grove City, Pennsylvania.
After the two teams had played a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Wolverines wasted little time in putting the first point up on the board inthe second half. Stephanie Wild scored her first goal of the year just 51 seconds after the start of the period to put Grove City ahead, 1-0.
John Carroll would take seven shots, including four on goal, over the next 40 minutes but could not record the equalizer until Haigh took a feed from Rachel Grdina to tally her second goal of the year at the 87:41 mark.
The teams combined for 19 shots in thetwo overtime periods, but none found the mark for a game winner. Counting all 110 minutes, the teams accounted for 44 shots taken, with JCu holding a slight 24-20 edge.
Michelle Zrebiec made 11 saves in goal for the Blue Streaks.
John Carroll is now 5-1-2 on the season, its best eight game mark to start a season since a 6-2 start in 1999.
