Senior Theresa Kaschak went out a winner in her final meet at Johnson Natatorium Friday evening.

In swimming, every event matters. This proved to be the case this evening for John Carroll University, as the women's swimming and diving teams beat Hiram College in University Heights, 120-108.
As it was the last home meet of the season for the Blue Streaks and senior night, John Carroll was looking for the victories right away. JCU started off with a strong win in the 200 Medley Relay. The women's "A" relay team placed first, with a time of 1:57.75. It consisted of Samantha Mossman (Bexley, OH, Bexley), Melissa Fillmore (Woodbridge, CT, Amity), Brittany Krauth (North Royalton, OH, Padua Franciscan) and Heather Gilmour (Warren, OH, Howland), who was competing in her final meet at Johnson Natatorium.
Senior Andrea Kovacs (Toledo, OH, Notre Dame Academy) was successful in her final appearance in University Heights, winning both the 50 Freestyle (25.96) and the 100 Freestyle (56.06). Kovacs was also a part of the 200 Freestyle Relay team that placed second with a time of 1:49.03.
The Blue Streaks had four other individual winners. On the women's side, Samantha Mossman (Bexley, OH, Bexley) won two events, one in the 200 IM (2:21.84) and the other in the 200 Backstroke (2:15.11). Sophomore Heidi Benson (Strongsville, OH, Strongsville) placed first in the 500 Freestyle (5:34.65). Junior Liana Sved (Loudonville, OH, Ashland) was second, with a time of 5:38.08. Krauth was the other Blue Streak to win an individual title, earning a victory in the Women's 200 Butterfly (2:21.07).
In diving on the women's side, Lauren Singley (Pittsburgh, PA, Mt. Lebanon)and Deanna Graber (North Royalton, OH, Padua Franciscan) finished second and third, respectively, in both the 1- and 3-meter diving. Singley had a score of 164.85 in the 1 meter and a score of 177.30 in the 3 meter. Graber had a score of 158.10 in the 1 meter, and a 177.20 in the 3 meter, just missing tying teammate Singley.
With the win, John Carroll's women's team now has an overall record of 4-7.
