Pat Fallon was one of the Blue Streaks whose batting average rose during the weekend in Marietta
John Carroll never got its bats warm throughout the weekend it spent in Marietta.
The three teams the Blue Streaks played were a combined 36-18, which could explain why JCU left town with three losses to Thiel, Maryville and Piedmont.

JCU began the tournament by taking on Thiel Friday, but only completed an inning and a half before play was halted. The score was tied 1-1.
Saturday began, and it was a downhill slide. John Carroll started out with a 2-0 lead, but an eight-run third was all the Maryville Scots needed to boost their way to a 16-5 win. Four JCU pitchers combined to throw 16 strikeouts, but also gave up 13 hits and nine walks.
JCU then resumed its tilt against Thiel Saturday evening. The change of day affected the Blue Streaks, as John carroll had two hits Friday night, but then managed just three over seven innings Saturday.
The Tomcats scored three times in both the third and fourth to break the game open
Sunday was the Blue Streaks' best chance to produce a win, but a late run deflated that opportunity. JCU rallied from a 3-1 deficit with two runs in the fifth to knot the score at 3-3, but Piedmont pushed across a run in the eighth to break the tie.
Patrick Fallon (North Olmsted, OH, Lakewood St. Edward) (2-4, .500, 2 runs) and
Brian Benander (Richmond Heights, OH, Cleveland St. Ignatius) (4-10, .400, 3 runs, 2 RBI) led the offense.
John Carroll is now 5-6 on the year.
