Johnny Hastings had two home runs and a combined five RBI on day one of the Muskingum Invitational
John Hastings (Pittsburgh, PA, Fox Chapel) had his first career multi home run game to lead John Carroll to a 12-8 victory over Montclair State, hel;ping the Blue Streaks split their two games on day one of the Muskingum Invitational Saturday in New Concord.
JCU lost its second game of the day, 6-2, to the host Muskies

John Carroll trailed by a 2-1 score entering the bottom of the third inning against Montclair State, but never looked back after exploding for seven runs in its turn at bat.
Patrick Stone (Gahanna, OH, Bishop Hartley) started things off with a single, after which
Brian Benander (Richmond Heights, OH, Cleveland St. Ignatius) doubled.
Tom Hickey (Orland Park, IL, Brother Rice) and Hastings connected with RBI singles to each plate a run before
Aaron Miller (Burton, OH, Berkshire) delivered an RBI double to score Hickey.
When the smoke cleared, JCU had an 8-2 lead.
Hastings would preserve the win with a two-run homer in the fifth and a solo round tripper in the 8th. He is the first Blue Streak to hit two home runs in the same game since Hickey accomplished the feat against Muskingum on May 14, 2010.
Bobby Peltz (Grosse Pointe, MI, Grosse Pointe South) improved to 2-1 on the mound, going five innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out four.
Against Muskingum, John Carroll had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before the Muskies scored the final five runs of the game.

Patrick Fallon (North Olmsted, OH, Lakewood St. Edward) had RBI hits for the Blue Streaks, who now stand at 6-7 after the completion of play Saturday.
